On the weekend of April 17th and 18th, 1st Merrickville successfully hosted the Valley Highlands Hobbies & Wheels show. One hundred and fifty Beavers, Cubs and Scouts descended upon Merrickville from as far away as Almonte, Pakenham, Smiths Falls, Carleton Place, and Montegue for the annual hobby show and races.
The hobby show encourages youth to participate in more hands on hobbies than is typical these days. The races were for Beaver Buggies, Kub Kars, and Scout Trucks. Individual competition was for fastest vehicle and the packs and troops competed for group lelvel trophies.
1st Merrickville Cubs triumphed for the second year running, winning the fastest pack trophy. We also had the fasted car overall.
