Here are my notes
from tonights Valley Highland's area meeting:
- Leaders (&
group committee members) who have not been taken the Gateway course need to
get it done. There will be a session in Franktown in the near future. I will
pass on the details when I receive them.
- There is a new
person in charge of the Rover round table. They are willing to come out to
Scout and Venturer meetings to talk about Rovers. Contact information will be
in the area meeting minutes.
- David Wray at
region is interested in helping groups get news releases into the media and
community. Contact him for any help you want. Steve...
- The crest design
for the June regional Cub camp is open.
- ScoutTrees broke
even due to some extra sponsorships obtained by Brian Billings. So we received
our cheque back, $306.12. There was also money budgeted at the area level that
was not used, due to the extra sponsorships, so that has been divided
amongst those groups that participated. We received a cheque for
$200.
- Tracy Jornan (sp?)
is a new Beaver service Scouter.
- Camp Zero for
Scouts is in progress. There is a hike at Tatlock on December 6th. Charlie
Gale will be sending out additional information.
- Commissioner's
awards are available again this year for sections that wish to
apply.
- 2nd Smiths Falls
did an all section Train/Bus/Plane outing. Train from Smiths Falls to Ottawa,
bus to Cosmic Adventures, bus to Aviation museum for the last hour (that's
always free), bus back to Smiths Falls for sleepover. Attended church service
the next morning. Spagetti dinner, sausages and pancakes for breakfast.
$23/youth, $29.adult. Fundraising covered all but
$5/person.
- Next area meeting
is January 16th at Smiths Falls.
