My notes from the
area meeting May 19, 2005
- Most of the evening
was taken with setting the area event calendar for next year. It is supposed
to be sent out sometime this weekend.
- Michelle Niefer was
awarded her fourth bead. This is for being a trainer of the advanced trainers,
the people who teach WoodBadge II, as well as for do training planning/etc at
the advanced level. This is the highest recognition a trainer can
receive.
- Jim Britton
officially announced his resignation, effective next month. Michelle Niefer
(area secretary and past area commissioner) and Roger Nuttall (area training)
are searching for a replacement.
- There will be a
fall area Scout camp at Whispering Pines for those troops that don't want to
go to JOTA at GreenWing.
- No area Scout camp
in spring 2006 as there is a regional Scout camp.
- Awards banquet on
June 16 in place of next area meeting. All invited.
- Alex Beelich
suggested a mini-version of Boat Rescue targeted at Scouts. The area declined
saying the leaders should take the full Boat Rescue course and then teach the
kids the appropriate parts. I will ask Roger Nuttall if he could provide a
short syllabus of what we should cover with the Scouts.
