Notes from area meeting Sep 5, 2005
Montague only has
Scouts (4 of them) so they will be joining with Beckwith Scouts for their
program.

Thanks to Peter,
Sheila, and Alex for participating in the Lombardy Fair food booth. It has a net
profit of $2,879.25. This pays for Whispering Pines.
Cub camp Impeesa had
60 kids @ $5/kid and made a $81 profit.
Trainers will give
the gateway course during group's camps at Whispering Pines if they want.
i.e. The necessary leaders just duck away from the kids for a couple of hours at
somepoint during the weekend.
Roger wants to
create a service team to visit and help sections. Also wants to make the
Scouter's Club work.
Ken wants a camp
committee representative from each group. Volunteers?
Did we get Scout
Trees crests for last May? Some are still available (for free) if we
didn't.
A new trail has been
made at Whispering Pines. Another one to be done shortly. Map (not accurate) in
the trailer.
For dinner at a
Scout camp. Give each Scout a live chicken, and say 'here you
go!'.
Voyageur membership
finished the year, August 2005, at 95% of the August 2004 figure. Valley
Highlands was at 89% (510 youth+adults compared to 572 the previous
year).
When a group reaches
70% retention from the previous year, all subsequant registrations are $95
instead of regular $110.
White tail sleep
over information sent out to Colony leaders.
Smiths Falls train
museum offers sleep overs for $8/person including food, or $13/person including
a crest as well.
Camp being suggested
by Warren Goving (Smokey) in March/April for senior Cubs. The camp is run by
troop Scouters, and the Cubs do real Scout activies all weekend. The Cub leaders
attend to help out as well. He says the is very successfull at retaining the
Cubs going up to Scouts. He is looking for a troop to host the camp. He
wants to come and meet the Cub leaders, the senior Cubs, and their
parents.
3rd Carleton Place
has 104 kids registered.
