Notes from Area Meeting January 19,
2006
- I have the Scouts
Trees 2005 crests. Will bring them to section meetings next week. Please
review the photographs to determine who should get the crests:
- I have accepted
another Kub Kar track. It's coming from a defunct Lanark group. It'll be
usefull for Hobbies & Wheels, and can be stored in the large
trailers.
- Answers to our
questions as to why the region wants our opening/closing bank balances and our
bank account number
- If there are no
opening/closing bank balances then the financial statements are
meaningless.
- Bank account
number needed because the money belongs to Scouts Canada not to the
group.
- All leaders that
were new this year are supposed to take the WB 1 course or they won't be
allowed to register for the 2006/2007 season.
- Scout winter skills
session had 25 Scouts and 10 leaders attend at Smiths Falls. Covered cooking,
shelter building, hypothermia (umblies - stumbly, grumbly, mumbly),
clothing, and gear packing.
- The Beaver Burr is
on! There is a planning meeting at Roger Nuttall's house on Sunday January
22nd at 2:00pm.
- Ontario Volunteer
Award. Need to nominate one person at each of 5 year, 10 year, 15 year, etc
service levels from each group. By end of April.
- Nominations open
for Lily & Thistle award. For the leader with outstanding service to the
area. Presented to Chris Tyler last year; he was the first
recipient.
- 3CP has withdrawn
from Bingo. They were upset that their number of shifts had
decreased.
- Lombardy fair booth
broken into. Some repair work required.
- Only Merrickville
registered for Camp Zero so far. Way to go Alex!
- Dates for many area
