Notes from
area meeting February 16, 2006
- Venturers from
Carleton Place are coming to Hobbies & Wheels to demonstrate self
propelled vehicles going up the track. Rumour has it that rocket propulsion is
high on their list.
- Names being
forwarded to me as potential first aid trainers. According to my records,
Alex/Peter/Sheila/Keith/Allan are up for recertification this year. I don't
have records for John/Liz/Simon/Robert.
- Christina
Cunningham, previous group chair from 3rd Carleton Place, has been asked not
to attend any Scouting events. Some type of bad falling out.
- 41 Cubs at Winter
Challenge (15 from Merrickville). Net profit $52.12.
- 30 Beavers at
Beaver Brrr (0 from Merrickville). Net profit $42.09.
- Tentative WoodBadge
I in Carleton Place at the end of March. Another at Opemikon at the end of
April.
- Michelle Niefer
authorised a donation of $100 from the area towards a gift for paid staff Guy
Latour (does same stuff as Jeff Benson, i.e. nothing). All ten areas
contributed, so he was given a gift certificate of $1,000. Motion passed to
limit future donations outside of the area to $10 without area forum
approval.
- Annual area awards
banquet will be held at Whispering Pines on the weekend of June 10th (either
the Saturday or Sunday). Leaders and their families are invited. Some type of
program to entertain the kids in the afternoon is planned. How many leaders
would be interested in attending?
- A competition for a
Whispering Pines crest will be held. Full details will follow.
- Our missing
registration records might be in the Rideau Lakes District file boxes at the
region.
- 3rd Carleton
Place
- Beavers made a
volcano with baking soda, vinegar, and soap.
- 1st

War Museum. Currently debating evening versus weekend.

Falls

and pirates
- Cubs go to the
Rideau Regional centre on the 1st Saturday of every month for swimming. Gym
and bowling also included I believe. $40 for the lifeguard.

first Monday of the month. Talk to Stan.
