Notes from Area meeting April 20,
2006
- Registration fee
raised to $120 from $110. Fee is $105 until the end of June.
- The region budget vote was
about 8 to 6 in favour of the increase. Stan voted against the
budget.
- The region hired
another person.
- Rock Dunder camp
has been sold.
- New subsidy form
coming out.
- Catagory III
activities are things like rock climbing and white water canoeing. These will
still need a signed permission form next year, all other activities
won't.
- Council Scout camp
is going ahead even though registration numbers are way down.
- Loyalist area is
running a geocaching camp in the summer for a weekend. $200 per patrol of four
Scouts.
- Central Canada
camping challenge. There is supposed to be details on the Voyageur region
website, but I can't find anything.
- Area honours &
awards ceremony is June 10th at Whispering Pines.
- Discussion on area
direction. Consensus was on forming a service team focusing on the Scout
section. Team's aim would be to teach Scout leaders how to run patrol based
troops with challenging camps and activities. Area camps would move to be
patrol based. Current area leaders need to recruit additional adults to form
this service team. Additional discussion next month.
- Lent one of the
large three burner stoves to the area for Scout trees on the first weekend in
May. Ken Richardson will be giving Mike a call.
