Notes from Area meeting June 15,
2006
- Robert attended as
well. Thanks!
- Liz dropped in for
a minute until she figured out that it wasn't a group committee meeting
:)
- Received cheque for
$15 from the area for baler twine used at NiteVent in the pioneering
activity.
- Received cheque for
$420.05 from the area for the cost of Impeesa. Payable to group, so it needs
to be run through Stew for Mike.
- CJ pre-camp is May
11-13, 2007.
- Council Cub camp is
May 11-13, 2007.
- Brian Billings
received an award from the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority for his work
on Scout Trees.
- Received a letter
of congratulations from the council for having at least 100% of last year's
registration numbers.
- Family fun day at
Whispering Pines was canceled; but the area didn't tell anybody that it had
been canceled! No report issued yet.
- Basic canoe course
last weekend at Whispering Pines, boat rescue course this
weekend.
- Beaveree on June
10th had 37 Beavers in attendance (21% of the registered Beavers). No report
issued yet.
- Scout camporee
canceled for lack of participation; only two patrols interested. No report
issued yet.
- The area, after
some prompting, figured out they didn't have the Hobbies & Wheels receipts
for the two previous years. Stew, between now and August, could you dig them
out please?
- Area has
theoretically applied for the GST rebate through the submission of their
receipts to the council each year and had the rebate credited to their
account. I have asked to see the amount of their rebate for the past three
years.
- The area has asked
for the left over badges from Hobbies & Wheels and Impeesa. These should
be submitted at the August area meeting.
- The area is looking
for volunteers to man the food booth at Lombardy Fair from August
4-7.
- Voyageur council
had a 59% retention rate from last year with 33% new kids for an overall
registration drop of 8%. Valley Highlands had a 57% retention rate, 37% new,
and a 6% drop. For comparison, we had a 59% retention, 48% new, and thus an
increase of 13%.
- Perth: Cubs made
plaster casts of animal tracks (actually a couple of Cub pretending to be
animals).
- Almonte: Beaver
family camp, Scouts went to Lafleche aerial park, Scouts going to a jamboree
in the US, Scouts going on a 5 day canoe trip in Algonquin.
- Almonte putting on
a 100 year Scouting display and banquet. Feb 25, 2007 @ Civitan Club in
Almonte. All Scouting familes welcome. Would like groups to put on a display
about the history of their group. Will be open to the public during the day.
Banquet in the evening.
- Carleton Place:
Scout 4 day canoe trip in Algonquin. Group has a website but they didn't know
the name.
- Elmsley: Scouts
going to Kingston for a camp, hike at Jones Falls, and to Ottawa for mountain
biking.
